Steve try my BOB2 this thursday. Motor is broken in and the fun is amazing. Learning curve is different especially with comp pole but i have a big shock pad that allows you to lean on pole and save your back. DRINKS fuel like nothing even with 38s but your 61x in a BOB would be a great step, good on gas, and fun ride. Just sell your kawis :)

I ride my Rickter FR2 Evo in the surf but also do rec rides on and and even race some of my friends on RN and SN jets..... The rickter is faster in a straight line on flat water but gets whopped in the chop.

Mike, I agree on using a tall shock pad. I made a 3" tall pad and it is perfect to do setup wakes with pole resting on the pad without hurting your back. Learning curve of my Gen3 bob was quite a bit different than a superjet (obviously). That being said, if anyone has ridden Kawi 550's and learned to ride WELL on one then you would probably be comfortable with how a bob slides then hooks in turns. I would honestly say that the closest comparison (if there was one) would be that it rides/handles more like a 550, but with more "pop".

Yurkanip has it right - ride as many as you can. I love my Q8, but there are a lot of people who really don't like riding them. Rickters feel like SJ's to me, but just "better". Rode one BOB gen 1, had a hard time riding that one, but some of the other guys just love them. It's all rider preference. If you are ever in the Scottsdale area, you can take my ski out for a tank of fuel and see what you think. One of my riding buds has a FR2 Rickter, he's not as into sharing his ride though.... and another has a seriously chopped up SN that is a blast to ride. The Epic Industries hull is a pretty fun boat, but it is an entirely different feel than any other stand up I've been on - the handling is very different.

If I was to do it all over again, I might give my money to Tom21 for a carbon FX1 hull.... but I'd have to test ride one first!

Agree with the above. I think more comes into question then just hull as well. Pole, steering, engine, etc. I have ridden J's Q8 a quite a few times. It was no fun with riser bars, then he put straight bars on and it was a totally fun ski to ride. I have ridden the above mentioned chopped up square "The Bronco" and love the way it handles as well.

I have ridden 2 Epic Stryker hulls and both ride different, because of different set ups for riders. But both are wide, light, and very stable and turn on a dime!

Rode a Gen 2 BOB a couple years ago and did not like it at all.

After riding all these skis this season I feel left out on my stock SN so I'll be upgrading come next spring as well. A lot of great boats out there right now. I am stoked to ride a few in Havasu this year.
