LOL usually you safty wire the bolts from head to head.

Mark44

Yeah I know... :shhh: I tried to attach them head to head so many times. It's so easy to do when the bolts are easily accessible, aren't surrounded, and aren't obstructed by various other things.

I agree that it seems odd you would have this problem on multiple skis, but I like your solution! Having grown up in an airport, it's kinda neat to see that stuff in a ski. They do all kinds of neat stuff in airplanes. Let us know how it holds up.

MUST use a quality ultimate green gasket! Never a home made gasket without a metal core.
Edit: Can also use like a all metal gasket like the OEM Kawasaki gaskets.

AHHHH SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!! thats my problem!!! my dad and i were JUST talkin like 5 minutes before i came on here. he said "ya know what, i beat its your gasket. every time those bolts rattle loose the gasket it gone."(i've been making my own gaskets, just this one, all season, with tractor supply gasket making PAPER) so we came to conclusion that the gasket gets wet, then hot, then disinigrates. We are 99.9999% sure thats my problem :stups:

im gonna order the REAL gasket tomorrow from factory pipe, or when ever they're open next

JFW what gasket are you using?

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
lockwashers and some loctite not enough? use some red... I use blue and it works fine..... interesting solution though Ive never seen it.... dont know jack about the aviation industry...

I tried lock washers once before... They create really nice gouges on the bolt head mounting surface.

Yes you need to use a metal core gasket. I destroyed 4-5 FP gaskets on my 750 before I ordered a big sheet from NAPA. It's not as high of quality as the FP gaskets but it's a metal core and if the bolts hold up, the gasket is fine. One thing to think about though is... Your bolts can loosen because of the gasket disintegrating but a rattling pipe and hot exhaust can destroy a perfectly good gasket pretty quick as well. I've caught loosening bolts really early before and the gasket has been reuseable. I've also rattled all 3 bolts out of the hole and the gasket was in the bilge twisted and completely annihilated. Pretty sure the metal core just helps keep all the gasket material together so the force of the exhaust doesn't blow it to bits. (I tried a normal gasket material for my head gasket on the 750 and it blew apart after 20-30 minutes).

why would you do that? especially 30-40 lbs over?

speedracer has a point about certian places on a throttle that will make the motor run rough. but to have that problem on two brands of skis???????

you've go something going on there and wiring stuff in place is only a band aid for your problem more than likely

much luck man, i hope it works out or you

you might want to look at your head pipe bolt holes? are they even still round? with as many times as you have had this happen i bet they are nice and oval shaped now which will only exacerbate your problem

I will tell you this much, the bolts should fit into the holes without a lot of slop,if the holes in the pipe are way too big no amount of loctite will hold them in the manifold,I run across this on 720 Seadoo engines all the time. The solution there is to drill out the holes in the pipe and install stainless steel collars, then I use four studs instead of bolts, studs have about 30% more clamping force than bolts,I have never had a problem with exhaust bolts coming loose after this was done.
