I got a pair of 90 seadoo's once that burnt in a garage fire. Same situation. Fire burned itself out and all that was left was the engine which was coated in melted plastic. Tore them down and sold the cases/cylinders cheap under the agreement they might be warped.:headbang:

that sux, i have a buddy whos barn bunt, all the toys were gone, insurance covered about 1/64 of the value, anything hot enough will burn/desinigrate although i would expect more, it may have been scooped up when the rubbage was cleaned or burried

The Jet ski was actually completely covered by his homeowners insurance, however he did not have any insurance on the contents of the barn:banghead: , all his tractors, impliments, tools, hay and everything else so I told him to keep the money that he got for the ski and use it for whatever he needed. Insurance only gave him 5k for all contents.:frown:

When I was a kid our neighbors barn full of hay burn't down, the barn was about 200ft from their house, the fire was so intense it melted the siding and broke windows on the side facing the barn..The fire dept. basically was hosing the house down and said screw it with the barn, just kept an eye on it for about a day...The barn smoldered for a week, nothing left,
We ran over there and you couldn't get within a couple hundred feet of the barn without getting fried......

I guess most people have never been to a levee party out on a Bayou. We burned two hay bales and they would last the whole weekend. Those things get insane hot and burn for days when packed tight. I can see it happening. City folks wouldn't understand how hot a barn fire is. Dust in barns is a big accelerant. will actually cause a fire.

I have 2 89 650sx's, and a an old 550 that look just like that. Same thing happened, but the barn fire was started by a passing train. So the train company paid for all losses. Basically anything that was aluminium ended up as a glob under the trailer, with all the steel parts mixed in. If you touched the hull it would just turn to dust. My dad's barn where the ski's were stored was basically a mechanics shop surrounded by old junk cars, so there was plenty of fuel for the fire. The local fire department had to drop water from helicopters to put out the massive grass fire the train started.

Moral: Don't store your ski in a barn that is on fire. ;-)

Maybe you can part it out on ebay

I can see the ebay add now:

1988 Kawasaki X2!!!
This ski has been parked in my grandparents barn for the past 10 years. It ran great when it was put there but I simply ran out of time to ride it. The X2 is a blast to ride, and I wish that I still had time to ride it The ski is sold "AS IS". Happy bidding!
:haha: :haha: :haha:
