Thanks to Greg at Advent Ignitions

I just spoke with Greg at Advent. Some of you will recall that my Advent crapped out on me last week. I assumed that it was the standard mode of failure that everyone talked about last fall, but supposedly he fixed. Well, it turns out that it was actually caused by me and not a resurfacing of last year's problem. On the new Advents they have rpm water injection trigger outputs. Since I was not using this, and there is limited space in the box, I cut the harness (which contains four wires) flush with the Advent box. Apparently this shorted the power supply.

Although he would not warrantee this ( he had waranteeed me this one last year, by the way), he offered me a new one at $250.00 for my continued support of Advent.

In light of this, and considering that an Enhancer is about the same price (but not as much spark power) I opted to stick with them.

This is a little off topic but how does your ski run in a no wake zone with the Advent ignition? I thought I was having a jetting problem with mine last year. It would run a little rough just off idle but other wise it would run perfect. I changed to a MSD enhancer and it made it a little smoother. It almost seems like it lost a bit of it's hit with the MSD.

I have the older Advent without water injection and I am runing it on a Superjet.

When this broke on me I threw in an older non-water inj Advent that I had and it works great. Once in a while at low speed and light load I hear a little popping, but I never though anything of it because it did it all the time last year when I was running and it does not impact the hit.

Have you gotten the replacement yet? When?
It was sent out to me yesterday. I'm up and running on another one anyway, so its no rush. this one will go into my Watercraft Factory boat next month anyway.

I had starting problems with an Advent T3 Superjet ignition. It was as if timing was so far advanced (at low RPM's) that it would kick back on the starter and was very hard to start. I tried it out 2 different times on 2 different skis over the course of a year & a half and could never get it to work right.

I finally called Advent this week & talked to Greg. He said there is a known problem with some of their digital ignitions for superjets. They had problems with the crank postion sensor on some units. He told me to send it back & it would be tested & replaced at no cost if it is indeed a faulty unit.

Yep... had the same hard starting issues. Now, I run the timing retarded about 5 degrees (case mark lined up with the first dimple on the left /stator). Starts, idles, and runs smooth...and rips :fing02:

Don't follow all the instructions. Pay close attention to the wiring and ground connections.
