This is billed as the most unorganized free ride for good reason. There are no flush toilets, no improved camp sites, no nearby (not walking distance) convenience stores, nuthin' fancy at all, just good fun.
We can, within reason, have a smallish bonfire and pit bike rides will happen. Kids are allowed and dogs are allowed. Don't shoot anybody, don't piss on anybody's tires but your own, and DON'T make me stop riding to take you to the hospital.
There is no group meal, but there will likely be at least 2 or 3 Dutch Ovens making dessert(s) on at least one night (probably Sat).
There are often very large boats that cruise by and they can often be persuaded to throw a good wake (I've seen them over 4 feet high). There is rumor that a large boat WILL be coming by at least a few times from the nearby marina. Overall traffic on the lake may be down a bit since this is the weekend just before July 4th, but there should still be a few boats to chase. Please have good manners for this and share well with others. NO ONE get too close to the extremely expensive boats and all will be well. This particular cove sometimes catches the wind just right and can get fairly big wind-blown waves (as high as 2.5-3 ft occassionally).
There will be porta-potties on site. If you need something fancier, bring a toybox or RV. There are 2 levels to park/camp. There is close to the beach (but you'd better have a 4 wheel drive to pull an RV back up the hill - it's rutted with some loose gravel and it's fairly steep). There is also an upper level that is actually fairly level, but you will have to climb up and down the hill, or ride a quad/bike that you provide (it's not far, just slightly less convenient).
There will be lots of beach carts to help you launch your standup and there is also a nearby ramp for sit down skis. It is an old ramp and it's seen better days, but it's still quite usable.
It is at least a few miles to any restaurants, so plan on bringing all your own food unless you want to drive [what is it, maybe 5 miles?] to a restaurant. Sorry, I can't give you any specific recommends on that other than the usual type of fast food cluster right in Pottsboro. There will be multiple toyboxes/RV's, so if you have something that needs microwaving, I'm sure something could be arranged. Other cooking methods could be arranged as well.
I do not know of any sources of race fuel, but there are gas stations within a few miles. Not in the immediate vicinity, but the closer to the site, the more expensive since that would be a marina. The gas stations in Pottsboro, as far as I remember, are fairly cheap.

Please remember that Skinnyman has to put up money (about $300.00 bucks or so, I haven't asked him the cost this year) to the Corp of Engineers for them to open this site and provide the portapotties for us. I'm quite certain that he would welcome donations to the cause. If there is any leftover, it might help cover the costs he had last year (that were not fully covered). If there is leftover after that, I'm sure he would do what he wanted to do last year and donate it to a worthy cause in our name.
I think it would be a really nice touch if everyone can donate toward the expenses involved and if we can work in enough to donate to a charity fund, that would be great!
And please pick up after yourself. We have to clean up afterwards if we want the Corp to continue to open this site for us each year.
