Super Jet TDR Waterbox

My TDR waterbox is pretty loud. My wife says she can here me coming before actually seeing me. I was told I could turf it to help baffle it. Is that right? I got turf do it. Do you just use contact cement like you'd normally would when turfing the ski?

My other concern is the temperature of the waterbox. How hot does it get and should I be concerned if there is turf on it?

Xmetal waterboxes come turfed so I don't think heat is an issue. You can also add water fitting on the inlet/outlet/middle and inject some more water which can also help to quiet exhaust.

I don't think turf will quiet it down any. You need more water in the exhaust for that.

A couple years back I was in the same boat. I turfed the box thinking it might do something to quiet it down but it didn't help what so ever. As for the turf staying on I never had an issue with it coming off. My advice is to get rid of it, I went back to a stock roundnose box and love it. Just my .02

thanks. I like the sound better with the tdr rather than a stock waterbox its just loud and if turf doesn't do anything i'll just skip it.

* o yeah. I'm running a flow control valve to dry out the water box though as well. I don't think i can add more water easily.

You can run a pisser into the exiting exhaust hose from the waterbox. I know quite a few people do this to quiet down aftermarket boxes, I personally have never done it but I'm sure it works well. If you want to keep the box I would try this and see how loud it is then.

Just replace that pressure relief valve with an .125" restrictor. And get a stock box!
