TBM Rideplate any good?

does anyone like the TBM rideplate with no holes for buoy racing?

I tried the TBM with holes in it. The only quality I found it had was auto tracking/correcting in chop/jet wash, otherwise I ended up hating it. I'm running a Blowsion Kenny Lip Ripper(surf) now. It really makes the SXR feel short, which I love! It makes me want to D-Cut the TBM.

it depends on what you want to do with the ski. For certain racing applications they are awesome. For freestyle? Probably not since the plate is designed to put a bit of pressure on the nose...

in the first post I put for buoy racing,
For now my 12 year old daughter is using the stock ride plate and with her being only 80 lbs the nose is down pretty much all the time,

The ride plate is almost two inches longer than stock. I had to change my turn enterances and exits due to the larger radius. I feel like a shorter pole is a much better option than a ride plate for adding nose pressure. I rode a tubbied SXR with a TBM plate, and that felt much better(my SXR=no tubbies). The two probably offset each other.

I ran my TBM through the Water skiing slalom course daily, so yes I ran buoys. My mention of (surf) was the short version of the Blowsion ride plate, it has a (long) version. I would start by filling the voids in the pump shoe with caulk, inserts, or something. I felt that hookup gain instantly in the Jet Wash and hard cornering.

I had the same issue when my daughter Megan was racing. I added the holes, and ended up enlarging them further. Made all the differance in the world for her. In fact she won the tour and Nationals that year! I can send you pics and dims if you like? Just send me your email.

you don't want a tbm or any similar plate for a small rider. the plate is good for tracking and grip but it keeps the ski up right and make it hard for a small girl to initiate a turn.

we have been working with Chris at pro watercraft racing and his plates work the best for Anna. she is about 95 pounds and chris has customized some plates for her cuz she is so small.

The TBM is good but I can see it not working for someone really light. I loved it on my Stock Class. I borrowed a mild limited and the plate was totally different. Went into turns really hot. I can see doing some plate tuning if your running a limited.

tbm is predictable and lean angle does not impact it as much as other plates.bullet ,craftsman and other similar plates hook just as well but boat needs to lean way over for that to happen.more aggressive riding is needed.
