TBM intake + rideplate or pump cone ??

On my SXR i now have a worx intake combined with the extended r&d rideplate (with D cut). My carbs are rejetted / Tau Ceti filters and I have timing advance.

I’m pleased with the handling and mid range power of my setup, but i want more top speed. I have the feeling that the current intake and rideplate are keeping my ski glued to the water in the chop (especially when racing), but are limiting my top end.

The TBM stuff seems to be recommended by most people, so that’s the way I want to go. Because of a limited budget I’ll have to choose between the new intake and rideplate combo OR the racing super pump cone. What would be the best choice for some extra speed/power?

I only ride closed course and racing.

tnx, Steve

Without a pipe, I would not fool with the Pump Cone(also not race legal in stock). The TBM grate will give you better hookup, you may lose a bit on top in smooth water, but in the chop you will most likely gain. I prefer the TBM Plate over any of the others, the stock plate will probably give you better top end over the R&D. Sounds like you already have a good setup going, Top end speed does not do much good if you cannot hook up coming off the line and out of the corners. Look into the Macracing stinger insert also, give you a little bit extra on the RPM's

Absolutely the ride plate.

I have both and the ride plate makes the bigger difference by a long shot.

You may want to give Bobby a call at Trinity Composites. He has a new carbon and Kevlar rideplate that weighs 2.2lbs. It is slightly concaved and designed to be race legal. His molds as well as his work is top notch. You will see more from him in the future. He popped his SXR hood mold yesterday as well. Bobby is a racer and desighned this rideplate himself using some of his background in full scale aircraft. Pics will be up soon.
