taking coupler off crank

im just trying to take the coupler off the crank....the motor from the ski is pulled so i have complete access to the flywheel. I just dont know how to immobilize the crank, or the easiest way to. Any advice will help...thanks

Use the ol piece-o-rope down the cylinder trick......It works everytime!

Heat on the coupler will make actually removing the coupler a lot easier as well.

Dont heat it to much unless you want to replace crank seals!

thanks guys...i tried rope down one of the cylinders with no luck...unless the rules of lefty loosey righty tighty are broken here...and ill try heating it up but its my first time so i dont want to ruin the seals....

Standard threads, a 6' cheater pipe helps.

If you're not planning to reuse the couplers, just whack the fingers with a hammer. It'll budge.

you have to use big rope small rope will not work, go to home depot and get 2 feet of the biggest, rope that will fit down the spark plug hole

see i was thinking about getting a crows foot and holding the crank in place that way...i have the motor out anyways so would that be better or no? thanks for all the input too
