After getting back from Daytona, I noticed my SXR has been making a "whining" noise. It almost sounds like the impeller is making contact with the wear ring. I am assuming the SXR's pump is designed like the Yamaha's...could this noise mean I am going to need to replace the wear ring? I am guessing that it is prone to swelling just like the Yam's pump. I haven't noticed any measurable loss of power, and there is nothing rubbing against the impeller shaft that I can see. It wasn't making this noise before Daytona-any ideas?

i have had a problem before of my prop coming loose, cause i didn't tighten it enough, and it took out the pump bearings, take it apart and have a look

kawis normally whine and cry cause they are not yamahas.
does it sound like sandpaper sanding? that is more what impeller sounds like until it get really tight then its more of thudding bump kinda noise. you should see some hot spots where its contacting, but it might be the bearings. or some crap wrapped around the shaft.

my buddy had a kawi ultra 150 that after a while was making a very loud whining sound. turned out to be the bearing in the pump.
