it's all depend on your setup. Big motor ,lot of HP ,steep impeller- you can run larger pump. On slitly modified engine, wet pipe, high compresion head - just run stock size 140mm with bored nozzle.

what kind of setup do you have? for most I would say a 140 or a 142 12 vein setback with the long driveshaft, that is what I would have if I could afford it.

I got 140mm 12 vein setback pump , but I didn't buy extended driveshaft. I fount extended coupler . This is pics. You can see the one I found about 1'' longer, it's all you need , not over $400 for extended driveshaft

Just watch vibrations and leaks in the center bearing. The driveshaft has a bigger diameter to capture the front two seals, bearing, rear two seals. Moving the drive shaft reward will put that diameter out of range for complete capture of the center bulk head package. The skat driveshaft is longer from the center bulk head BACK for that reason.

Also with that coupler you wont be moving the driveshaft back to the same spline engagement.

I've done it both ways with all sorts of setups. Full capture of the bulk head package is best when making serious power and not wanting leaks and other troubles.
