SXR Mac Mushers install...

Ok Firstly a big thanks to Kawasaki for using really cheap glue to stick the oem mats down.. Saved me a heap of time and trouble.. They all just peeled away..

Ok so I have rails and mats of and in process of cleaning whats left of the oem glue away...

Do I need to scuff up the tray real bad or just a course sand?

Secondly the footholds don't mould to the sides reall well.

After suggestions here on best way to get a clean fit as will just be truf and no rail caps latter...

See pics for gaps etc..

I know to rivet expoxy and glass in place but should you foam fill behind them..

thankxs in advance...

sand anything thats getting turfed with a 2" sanding disc on a diegrinder. then wipe with an acetone cloth.

sand the back of your turf with some 50 grit paper, then acetone.

forgot the photo's

It doesn't show it in the photo but the right side ski foot hold actually sits higher thaan the top of the side of the ski so no where to rivit to as the ledge/indent is recessed bach 20mm...

Wait, do those holds just fit up against the hull? I have not seen some like that without carving out the foam. Personally, I would want my feet as wide as possible and might look at others. We just did some Kickers, and they just feel great. I rode Brandts SXR with Kickers, and it was sweet. So much, I would buy it if it was for sale!

Yeah up against the hull... They aren't that wide and the sxr trat is a lot wider than the others..
But still looks like i might have to hack out some sides of the tray to make them fit nicely..

Fit the mashers as best as possible, pre drill your holes for your screws. Glue and screw, if part of the foothold does not flush out, use fiberglass and fair over the gap. Then Foam. you can also make a relieve cut in the foothold to get it to snug up to the side, then glass over that part also.

Ok got best fit possible with only grinding out a 10mm recess in the side wall of the tray at the bottom for the Mashers to fit snug..

Had to cut back a little of the actual masher mould at the highest back top point to much the contour of my ski...

Got the glass and foam in ready for turfing tomorrow night...

Now turf questions I have the no rail kit but can not work out where or how they have cut some of the pieces... I know some are over cut to aloww for sanding back and trimming butt edges but other pieces ?????

Do you turf the whole inside and top inside of the foot recess?

Where is the best place to start.

Start with the tray then the foot wells then the sides and rail pieces etc.../????

Yhanks agian

sounds like you got a set of defective mashers, you should not have had to cut out any of your hull for these to fit, if you got to do that, might as well be installing full footholds. either way, good luck, looking good.

I put mashers in my SXR last year and neighbors SXR last year.

They fit like azz in their stock form-IF U R GOING TO TRY FREESTYLE W/YER SXR-----------READ THIS------------grind down the tops of the mashers to allow u to put them as far forward in the tray as u can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put my neighbors in 2" further forward than mine and love hers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use a heat gun-the part that fits poorly is the bottom that screws to the bottom of the tray-get that part as hot as u can and screw it down.
Feel free to call me for help-not bragging-just been there and done that.
twice.
