SXR SXR leaking

My new SXR I just picked up has a small leak.

Last weekend I dropped it into the lake and hooked it up to my anchor. It sat on my anchor for about 3 hours without riding and had about 3-4" of water inside the hull

It seems like a very slow leak. The ski has a few small chips on the bottom where you can see fiberglass (black gelcoat chipped off). Is it possible the ski is slowly seeping in water through those small chips?

I pulled the ski out and checked to see where the water is coming from. It was a little difficult to tell but it looks like water may be coming out from the butt plug seal.

Is there any other common places to check for small leaks? How can I repair the gel coat on bottom?

Thanks in advance. First picture shows the chip in the gelcoat (2-3 similar chips on bottom of the ski) second shows the conspicuous butt plug seal.

It's not leaking from the chips. Best guess is steering cable nut or water lines but could be biige line or driveshaft seal

Steering cable nut? Water lines? How could it be the water lines? It just leaks from sitting, even when I never turn it on it leaks.

Its not the chips in the back...

Where the lines come into your hull....it leaks around the edges. Get a flashlight and look at your firewall under your hood while it is in the water...you'll see the leak. unless its in the back by the pump somewhere.

Korn runs an auto bilge - might want to think about one if you're going to to anchor it off-shore.

Yep. Strap a rulemate750 where your tool kit goes...no switch needed. On when you need it, off when you don't.

Make sure the oring on the drain plug is in good condition. You can also remove the whole assy and check the rubber triangle that seals to the hull. Make sure all surfaces are clean. As others have stated, the best way is to put it in the water with the hood off and see where the water is coming from. The drive shaft through hull bearing, water lines from the rear of the ski to the firewall, rear exhaust seal at the back of the ski are all suspect. Don't worry about the chips in the gelcoat. If you ride her hard enough, there will be no gel coat in a few years.:Banane09:
