I am still trying to track down my motor noise issues. The sound is present during low rpms and goes away as soon as I brap it. It sounds like metal on metal tapping. The whole engine also vibrates like a mother. The noise is definately from the motor. The boat is strong and fast but something tells me its just a matter of time before this problem explodes. I have a full Group K Big bore sleeper kit. The ski was brand new when I sent the motor to Harry. Zero hours. I never fired it up. The first time I fired up the Big bore motor I noticed the noises. I talk with Harry several times and Im sure its not anything with the kit. Im thinking its something with the crank. When I turn the coupler by hand I can hear noise coming from crank. I has several locations during the revolution where it sounds loose. I had the flywheel off last week and the front seals were still good visually. No oil or residue anywhere.
1. Shouldnt the crank be smooth throughout the entire revolution?
2. Could my big bore kit cause the rods to contact the cases. I have 84.5 mm Wisecos.
3. Could the crank be bad from the factory?
4. Mabye the crank was installed wrong at the factory?
I am going to tear this motor apart today. I need to get it together before Daytona. What should I be looking for specifically on the crank, cases, pistons and cylinder?
