SXR SXR carbs

I went to Riva and then to the OEM parts finder. For an 06 SXR it show Main 132.5 and pilot 72.5. No info on needle and seat. I'm betting 1.5.

Yup, stock carbs are 38, N/S 1.5. I used a Mikuni 38-44 rebuild kit without issues.

you don't need to replace the jets, they do not wear, just might gum up a little -not necessarily visible- take out and spray with choke cleaner. needle/ seats and the diaphragm are just about the only items that wear.

Really? I thought stock SXR carbs are 40mm I bodies? I have a set of SXR carbs and a stock set of SJ carbs on my bench, pretty sure the SXR carbs are larger. I will have to measure tonight.

Hmmm....you got me thinking too. Manual sates they are mikuni bn40-38. I measured mine at the smallest point and got just over 38mm

I stuck my calipers in the bottom and you can get right to the bore at the butterfly. I read 39.99mm. The SJ carbs next to them were noticeably smaller at 38mm. Now, I should say, these are off my 05 that was built by Blowsion and I don't have a full build sheet for it, but I do believe the carbs to be untouched stockers. They sure look completely stock.

Hmmm...for some reason I always thought they were 38's. I must be hanging out with my buddy and his superjet to much!!

Correct 40mm Mikuni SBN-I carbs. I just rebuilt a set on my buddies O8' SX-R.
The "I" body carb does not mount at the bottom like a SBN, they have bolts that go through the top of the carb down to the manifold.
