SX/SXi/SXi Pro sxi pro slight running issue

Hello all! new to this forum! but hey to all!

Ok ive got a 99 750 sxi pro.. runs great with no issues in or out of the water apart from..

On the trailer i start it up and starts first time.. runs great.. but when i give it throttle and back off it trys to rev back up slightly.. not much but just wanted to know if this is normall? i assume its not but here to find out what it could be?.. its hard to fully explain what i mean by rev back up.. its like it finds a tiny bit of extra fuel while going back down the rev range.. my thoughts at the moment are electrical or an air leak some where.. but im realy not sure.. anyone else had this issue before?

In the water the ski runs great with no issues atall.. you cant feel it while backing off the throttle, but me being me i like my toys running as thay should so id like to find out what this is before it gets worse or before it could possibly damage my engine

Many thanks

Possible air leak between the carbs and intake or intake and case(less likely)
I would take a look down the carbs when this happening and make sure your needle/seat isnt leaking. If they dribble fuel after you let off the throttle its time to rebuild or at least replace the needle and seat. just a thought but its easy to see

Thanks for your reply sxipro02 :veryhappy: checked carb base gaskets and thay seem ok as i had the carbs apart a week or so ago, thay seem ok but will replace.. also had a look at the inlet manifold to cases gasket area and seems abit leaky at the bottom but was not sure if this was just from using wd40 on the engine ect.. but i will also replace these, when you say about looking down the carbs.. i tried this and cant see any extra fuel when i back off the throttle, i think i will replace some gaskets and go from there at this point.. will report back my findings :bananajump:

Thanks

It may just be your idle is a little high for out of water. Out of water there is no pressure against the prop so the motor is just free running (if that's the right way to explain it) my ski started doing the same thing when I turned my idle up but once its in the water it idles fine.

Bit of an update..

Changed the carb base gaskets and lowered the idle but problem still there  also rewired my stop/start switch as some of the wires were abit black.. anyone have any other ideas to what this might be?

Many thanks
