I have always taken my PEAK rpm readings in the water, on SMOOTH water.

But, I guess for side by side testing, your trailer method is cool.

and since the old green slug only spins 6600 RPM I guess it cant fly apart.

Shonuff,
Glad to see you got it dialed in. Sounds just like my BB sleeper.(like a time bomb) I was turning 7100-7200 rpms on smooth water with the stock 80 mm nozzle and a 9/17 skat. I just had the nozzle bored to 82 mm and havent had a chance to run it yet. Im gonna have impros tweek the prop to get the rpms closer to 7000. Did you get the exhaust modification?? Your gonna love your ski. The ultimate sleeper.

I run in questionable water so the exhaust cooling mod was not done. I did get a change to feel the intake blockoff that was done. Pretty cool.

How pricey are the Advents?

Hi Mike,

If this is the case it can be one of two things. Either the magnets are positioned incorrect on the flywheel we sent, or our production flywheel is not compatible with the 2003 ignition. We did test this prior to production, but I have not personally ran a production flywheel on an '03, so I cannot be sure. You can send the flywheel back and I'll exchange it for another to eliminate the chance that a magnet is reversed, or you can install an Advent ignition and it will run great. The Advent functions like the 2004 and newer CDI's.

Just let me know what you would like to do.

Thanks,

Tim

I just got the 2005 stocker on the 2003.

It runs perfectly.

Hi Mike,

This is a strange problem that you're explaining, although I'm suspicious when you mentioned that the ski is a 2003 because the stator and charging system must be functioning for the OEM ignition to work correctly and it may not be working with our flywheel. We did test our flywheels on the older ignitions during development and they worked great, although I am never one to claim we have the answer to every problem. What I would suggest is that you remove the flywheel and change back to the OEM flywheel to determine if there is an issue with ours. Once we know this I can make some suggestions on what we can do to correct this.

If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

Tim Bushman

It feels like fouled plugs but the problem persists with brand new plugs and with different carbs. (I swapped the carbs from my 2005 SX-R and got the same result.

Whenever I see "return", I'm impressed.

But then again, I'm also impressed by your rugged, good looks so it could be that my standards are low.

stop looking at my ass.

anyway, im glad you got it figured out.

No and me too, sort of.

I now have a functioning lightweight flywheel on my stock 2005 and a heavy stocker on my big bore. I told Tim I would pitch down the prop and cheat the acceleration that way.

It works on the lower end of the 2003's RPM band but just not all the way up. Perhaps if I left the timing plate on . . . who knows. Tim says the Advent should solve the problem and honestly, it "feels" like he would be right. At the top of the RPM band, it feels like it just needs more fire . . . literally.

I just dropped an email to Harry asking about flywheel turnaround time.

I also had issues with my 03 electrical system. I'm now using a 03 advent with 04 stator assembly on my limited (stock flywheel to be legal). I also used my 03 limited hull & electrical last year in daytona and had my 04 surf motor in it with rad flywheel and it also worked fine.

If I were you, I'd go with Advent.:poke:
Get Tim to get you a nice curve and you'll have better low end.:Banane35:

Just sent the flywheel to Harry to be lightened.

We'll see how it goes.

I propped down to 13/21 -5mm with TBM cone.
