Hi Mike,
If this is the case it can be one of two things. Either the magnets are positioned incorrect on the flywheel we sent, or our production flywheel is not compatible with the 2003 ignition. We did test this prior to production, but I have not personally ran a production flywheel on an '03, so I cannot be sure. You can send the flywheel back and I'll exchange it for another to eliminate the chance that a magnet is reversed, or you can install an Advent ignition and it will run great. The Advent functions like the 2004 and newer CDI's.
Just let me know what you would like to do.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Mike,
This is a strange problem that you're explaining, although I'm suspicious when you mentioned that the ski is a 2003 because the stator and charging system must be functioning for the OEM ignition to work correctly and it may not be working with our flywheel. We did test our flywheels on the older ignitions during development and they worked great, although I am never one to claim we have the answer to every problem. What I would suggest is that you remove the flywheel and change back to the OEM flywheel to determine if there is an issue with ours. Once we know this I can make some suggestions on what we can do to correct this.
If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Tim Bushman

It feels like fouled plugs but the problem persists with brand new plugs and with different carbs. (I swapped the carbs from my 2005 SX-R and got the same result.
