Sent my motor off to Group K for their big bore 850 kit. I got it back and it really didn't run as strong as I wanted so I installed the TBM lightweight flywheel, removed the timing advance plate installed by the previous owner, and now am hitting a strange rev-limiter like problem at 6,000 rpms.

It feels like fouled plugs but the problem persists with brand new plugs and with different carbs. (I swapped the carbs from my 2005 SX-R and got the same result.

What could be my issues? Is it a timing issue? Reeds? Pulse signal? Ignition?

Alright gurus, get to guruing.

You need to find a way to confirm timing with a digital setback timing light. Its possible the TBM is bad?

Ignition or timing problem.
What ignition are you running?
Also check to make sure your pick up coil is in the correct position.

Might want to trim back your plug wires back a little. I had a similar problem last summer, cheap and easy check.

Are you running the entire sleeper kit or just the 835 cc bore? I have the Group K sleeper big bore also. You need to get that stock flywheel back on. And run the stock ignition.

stick your stock flywheel back on.

I'll have to steal the one off my 2005 as I sold my 2003 flywheel.

Did that.

Entire sleeper kit. Why the stock flywheel?

I'm going to swap the flywheels between the SX-R's to see if the problem follows the TBM flywheel.

I asked Harry about swapping the oem flywheel with an aftermarket flywheel, and changing the ignition, but he suggested not doing it. I just had the stocker lightened and jumped the air temp. sensor. He said to run atleast 100octane.

Let us know what you find.

My lightened flywheel was still sluggish. I wanted more pep. Korn's Vilder flywheel helps his jump out of the water.

I removed the previous advancer plate. (2003) Perhaps I should stick it back on.

Pulled the TBM this morning.

Did I mention it needed a flywheel puller I didn't have?

I found two screwed engine mounts on the 2005 SX-R.

Both bendixes look good and got a full re-lube. Hmm. The date is wrong on my camera.
