Why would it "lose power"? Did they change the volume?

The reflectivity of carbon is poorer than that of aluminum/steel. That hampers the way the pipe is supposed to work.

or you can make a carbon pipe cover for about 10 bucks if you care that much! i made one a few years back an never used it.just lay the carbon ontop of the pipe an let dry,add a few layers an trim....

A board member here made a couple of them. Paul actually has them at his shop now. He tested them and said they made good power till they heated up then it was around a 20% loss in power. The carbon pipe heats up, gets soft and dosn"t reflect the waves as well. They look awsome though.
