Im currently running a complete 62T motor, I wanted to swap the top end over to a 61x on the 62t bottom end, Would there be any other modifications id have to do besides tuning?
Make sure to carefully center the exhaust manifold if it was cut for a 62T cyl. Other than that its all tuning, carbs will run richer at part throttle and the rpm range will be lower. It will be a huge improvement if its over propped, with a low pitched prop you will just have better response and less power.
The manifold its self is ALMOST identical. The Mounting holes for the manifold are what differs. 62t manifold uses m10x1.25 mounting bolts, 61x uses m8x1.25. Alot of people (me included) just run helicoils installed in the treads of the 62t w/ M8 bolts This so you dont have to drill your manifold out bigger. If it has been drilled for M10 bolts as said above take GREAT consideration to the alignment of the manifold as you tighten the bolts....
