I have surfed behind wakeboard boats too which might help a little.
We found a place that will pick us up and return us to the boat, include board rental and lessons for $65.
It's a little more than I was hoping for, but at least I wouldn't have to worry about transportation.

Buses are everywhere and they only cost a buck or two, its no big deal getting around Mexico if you don't want to spend the 65. Its actually kind of fun because these buses have all kinds of wached out stuff hanging in them and the driver flies through the jungle with them.so hang on. Weeeeee

Still, no one can argue that the foam board is the perfect learning platform. Its still my all time favorite board.

Ummm, I'll argue that. I hate foam baords. They are heavy. Hard to paddle out. Hard to get up to speed to catch a wave. And I just don't like the squishy feel. Yes, you want a big board to learn on, but a good glass/epoxy board is way better.
