the same laws apply to lakes as well as the ocean...just because they don't enforce it doesn't mean its not on the books...just like pismo..they dont enforce it but the rule is no vessel shall operate within 200yards or something of a breaking wave..you cant just drive your fishing boat through the surf..your jetski is governed by the same rules..didnt someone just get killed surfing by a rowboat in oregon??

according to your theory because it dosnt specifically state the rules regarding the ocean you can do anything you want?
Find the specific law and post it.

No, I am saying the laws you have posted are very specific about where they apply, and surf is not included in those specifics.
I know you like pounding your chest about the illegality of riding PWC in surf, but it's just not the case in OR and WA (yet)

And I would make sure you truly ENJOY getting pounded in jail!
yeah that was pretty much my point that I was trying to make but doofus missed the boat. not to mention in a state like florida where are a lot of the citizens carry legally guns in can put you down as a righteous shoot for attacking them.

Of course you can. :confused:

Why are you even questioning that?

im not spending my workday scanning pdf files to find a law to prove you wrong...thats the law...call the coast guard and ask them..i already posted the law for oregon specifically stating a 5mph speed limit within 200ft from shore

And it was pointed out to you that your drive-by interpretation of the laws you posted was wrong.

operate craft in reasonable, prudent manner;
unsafe or reckless maneuvers endangering people/property include weaving through congested boat traffic, jumping wake unreasonably close to another boat or when its operator's vision is obstructed, swerving to avoid collision at the last moment. Allowances made for participants in professional exhibitions and officially sanctioned events;

observe Slow-no wake, maximum 5 mph speed limit:
-within 200' of a swimmer, surfer, diving flag, bank or wading angler; dock, swim float, ramp, pier, marina, floating home, or boathouse;
-within 100' of any anchored or non-motorized vessel;
-within 200' of shoreline on all lakes, reservoirs, and bays, "safe" (see page ii) take-off excepted;

unless you want to ride @ 5mph whithen 200feet of shore

waveriding on a jetski is illegal period

you can launch and ride 5mph untill u are 200ft from shore...sounds fun

Looky here: The law you quoted is very specific about where the slow-no wake rule applies. Nowhere is an ocean beach included.
Your argument that it doesn't have to specifically mentioned is just silly: That law is PRECISELY about when and where a no wake speed is required, and an ocean beach isn't one of them.

Come on Andrew. I've been told specifically by LE that it's legal to ride surf. You didn't let me by with that statement, what makes you think I will let you by with it? I've been told all sorts of facetious non-sense by law enforcement. Just as you point out that non-enforcement of existing laws doesn't negate those laws, I will point out that the coast guard telling you something isn't legal doesn't make it so.
What are those regulations specifically? Since the CG mentions it, they must be federal regulations?

For what it's worth, the Coast Coard concerns itself with federal regulations and federal waterways.

hey cool guy

thats posted where i launch my ski from

Cool, that's California. I don't think anyone is arguing that one.
What about the rest?

#1 who is LE?

secondly the ocean is federal waters...just because your local law enforcment agent dosnt know the rules dosnt make them non existent. Ive also seen a friend stopped and nearly ticketed for riding within 200ft of the shore..

go ride your ski in the surf within 200ft of the shore in front of the coast guard and see what happens

Sorry, LE = Law Enforcement.

go ride your ski in the surf within 200ft of the shore in front of the coast guard and see what happens
We've done so, nothing happened.
Are you saying those are federal regulations applying to all states? What's the specific text of the law?

I'm not sure why you're wiggling and wishy-washying so much about this. First you claimed that it was state law in every state.
Now it's the Coast Guard and federal law.

Which is it? And what federal law in particular?
