surf on a leash

If people on this site spent less time "fishing" for arguments and more time assuming the obvious, we all would be better off....

Not "fishing" for arguments.... just making a point as others read this and might do as you do, etc. You can't act like you know things of this nature do not lead to accidents.....

I don't think you understand. This isn't couches doing 50mph playing splash wars. It's guys putting around in the surf and kicking up a little roost on a downed rider. It CAN'T be done at a fast or dangerous speed. We're talking about 10mph max. Heck, I'll ride by a downed rider within 10ft or so to see if he's ok......this is less dangerous than that.

Tell that to the numerous groups that already have it in for PWC's, sit or standup..... What "we" do on standups already is illegal(*) for the most part... no need draw even more unwanted attention with "newb" games of splashing a person that is already wet. :banghead:

Again, just trying to state an opinion..... and "trying" to display a positive image.

ridn by is one thing and its not like im particularly passionate about this either. i just questioning whether the mild entertainment value is worth the risk regardless of the probability. to argue that there is no risk at all is rediculous. i know we all take risks but i prefer to take my own and not have someone else take one with my safety.

ill try not to run you down next time!! :cat40:
my buddy chad is good for that...he likes being sprayed in the mouth

OK guys. Situation way way overblown. I wish I had video. It doesn't look dangerous, it doesn't feel dangerous and it isn't dangerous. You do realize that you don't have to be running towards someone's head to spray them. Most of the time it happens after you check on a downed rider and are in the process going away. Chill out. PWC's aren't getting banned over this.

Lanyards in the surf can be dangerous....not a chance in hell I'd run one on my blaster. Then again, I've been contemplating putting one back on the blaster - after two of our riders had throttle return springs break, I realize that there is definitely some risk in not running one.

Oh, and on the splashing matter.....if my someone in my crew decides to splash me, it's all good. I do it to them too....I'd hardly call it life threatening. Not anymore than the "reckless abandon" that's involved w/ any sort of surf riding. If you don't trust yourself.....you definitely SHOULDN'T be splashing people.

how did a post from stan about strapping himself to his ski turn into an argument over lanyards then about splashing your buddy????...who cares??..lets ride..im more worried about falling on the backside of a wave and then having your buddy launch a nosestab and land on your ski...

Wow, this little spat is unbelievable. I’m with slut, you guys ought to worry about something worth worrying about. Dangerous? Are you serious? We won’t pump wash you and then steal your lunch money. Most often, the entertainment value is way above "mild".

Do your husbands jetski?

Sheesh, we haven’t even started talking about forehead banking yet. All in fun, my good friends...

I think a blaster is somewhat of a special case too. I've only ridden a blaster a couple of times, but getting the lanyard on then crawling all over that thing to get going would be a major issue in the surf... for me at least.

i ve been enjoying this. ill admit, i'll sometimes argue for the sake of it.

LOL! YOU dont know brett!

ill just drop more change in this jar i made..
what you choose as safe is your decision.
that been said if the conditions are JUST right and someones riding like a squid(why does that seem weird with watersport?strangelol) let em know it! just dont surprise them with a spray. you cant make a routine out of it, thats just asking for it. remember how unpredictible it can get and how fast it can go wrong. dont be a statistic!
can i get a braap!:Banane01:

I actually practice doing them when running through the flats out to the break.... try it w/ no one around. Just go at a slow pace turn sharp and gas it, then unweight the tray a bit... you will shoot a spray 50ft.... It doesn't hurt and it won't cause any concern from the people seeing it done... It just doesn't come off as reckless... Trust me I wouldn't do it if it looked questionable...

My rule of thumb is NEVER EVER EVER go directly at another rider... I don't care if you are 50ft away... never direct your vessel and motor it toward a ski/rider EVER (especailly when you are pulling up next to them)
