I prefer the surf but will ride in any type of conditions .
Flat is nice and stress free ,you don't need to worry about losing your baot or being killed in flat so it's nice that way .

Surf is just a pure rush :rocketwhore:

Good Stuff ! THere is more than 59 peeps on the site..
Thank you to all who voted so far.

Who knows if anyone will use this info, but I think of how much coastline, how much inland water we have and I really thought the flatwater numbers would of been higher. Intresting.

I forgot!
flatwater but not by choice, its just the way lake erie was been all summer. i like waves but i have no problem riding flatwater. aslong as it isn't choppy i don't care i just like to get out and ride.

surf

I am glad more people dont live closer to the surf or that some prefer flat water over a two hour ride to the ocean. We have our Own Private Idaho here in Daytona on a Saturday or Sunday usually only our group of friends four or five at the most have the ocean to ourselves. Even have our own personal lifeguard courtesy of the Beach Patrol in the event of an accident. ITS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

flatwater 100%... not by choice though. the closest ive come to surf is in the inlet. just no beach access/ :):):):)ty luck when the opportunity presents itself. that will change this weekend though!!!

Surf near 100% of the time for almost all junkies. Most of the flat poll is going to be landlocked. You put any of those guys on the coast somewhere decent surf is within 30 min and the poll would look alot different. Id rather ride a surfboard in the ocean than a ski in flats.A ski is just a better way to experience the ocean. And we are ocean people here.Id guess if you gave every knucklehead surfer you run across in the water the op to experience and have a standup, there would be 1000s of them out in the surf, their just to broke or stupid to know it

IMO, the best do both well.
Malone, Lenzi, Roy, Watkins, ect. There are lots of them. Choosing one over the other only limits your potential in lots of ways.
The snobby elitist attitude of some "surf only" riders has got to go.
i think you got that snobby thing backwads.
i cant afford a surf ski, how the hell am i supposed to pay for the monster motor/hull combos it takes to get air on flat?

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
surf for 7-8 days a year in Sebastian Inlet then I'm stuck in MN with flatwater and cruiser wakes

I do like learning things in the surf then bringing them back to flatwater and off boat wakes and doing the same on flatwater and trying in the surf, fun learning curve and I think it makes me an overall better rider every year.

We share "elitist" lol.Surfguys laugh at the flattys at the lake,It takes a special kinda rider to be a true ocean waterman and stay alive.
Flattys laugh at us with our 701 b pipe setups, takes a special kinda bank account to afford a true flat water light hull stroker total loss setup :pokey:

I see no reason why a surf rider would want to ride flats unless they want to compete more or give better sponsor rep and not be out in flats looking silly.it puzzels me why there are not more surf freerides on the x tour and so many flat spots. We will be doing our best to fix that in the future

WOW..... when there is no surf, I still like to enjoy myself. So I go ride flat. you still get out in the water with buddies.

I am a surf rider and have lived at the beach for 30 years. I dont know where this attitude comes from !

Its all about having fun... FLattys Surfys, WTF !

I will take a stock ski in flat or surf and whomp the snot out of you !
Surfing or aerials.
But I dont care.. I would rather just be goofy and have fun !

No matter where people ride.... Its RIDING !

100% Flatwater. I actually LOVE flatwater freestyle. Its so technical and you have to be so creative. I would love to ride in the surf, tho. I've ridden Lake Erie and Ontario about 10 times and its a blast but I'm not really sure that is considered surf riding. I ride everyday during the summer on a small lake and now with my "new to me" Wamilton's ski I LOVE FLATWATER :arms: :veryhappy:

I've never heard a mostly flat rider make fun of surf. Flat riders love to ride surf too.
BTW you don't need a monster motor to have fun or get air at the lake.
Listen to Pete, he has a good surf rider attitude, and recognizes skill surf or flat.
