superjet doesnt have any spark?

hey man, i was looking at gonig and picking up this ski, but it quite a drive away from me. anyways, i was going to leave around 3 am to get there early today, but last night the guy called me and told me the ski lost spark. he said he started it in the morning, it ran fine and he shut dwn, then he put new plugs in and now he cant get any spark, he tried to switch back to the other plugs, but there is still no spark. now the ski is not in front of me, and id still like to go purchase it so i have it for the week, but like i said, its a long drive and if im not sure what it is yet im worried what i could find. anyways, to help diagnose it, he tested his connections. i thought maybe it was the coil, but he said hes not even getting power to the coil, so then im thinking the cdi is done, and it just needs a new cdi? is this common, but then he told me hes not getting any power from the wires coming from the stator. the ski turns over fine and has great compression in both cylinders, so it could only be so much wrong with the wiring right, its not a very complicated system am i right? so are the skis not suppose to get power unless its started, or if the batterys turning it over should the ski stil be registering power from the stator? anyways, i've got a whole 94 vxr pro ion my backyard that had a 701 in it, with all good wiring, this should bolt up not problem to my sj right, its got 61x in it aswell? any guess what could be going on?

say it's f-ed, lowball him and bring it home then wiggle the tether switch and plug it in properly. fire it up and laugh. the kill switch is probably killing the spark but letting it turn over. simple fix.

uh yeah, if the kill switch is grounding out the coil then there will be no spark, the ski ran, he shut it off, maybe the button is stuck. get him to knock off some money and bring it home before one of us does!!!

al.right everyone, i got the ski back to my house, wheeew, that was a long drive(8 hours each way). anyways, the ski is super sick, weighs next to nothing compared to my old superjet, but still no spark, not even when i disconnected the black and white wire. i have a coil im about to put in thats just been sitting extra because i have a 61x 701 in the back thats seized, so hopefully i can get it figured out. the question i have is, i see the coil, i see the battery terminals relay, and is that lil box the cdi in their? if so should i switch that over aswell? im about to get into the box, just unbolt it and perform ski surgery, yayyy here we go.

everything should switch over from the 61x, check all the grounds in there and see if it is an msd enhancer for the cdi. if it is they have been known to stop sparking when they get damp inside. plug in the other cdi and see if that is the problem, i would start with the coil first. you can cut back the plug cap leads and re install them, or swap the coil with your spare.

i just switched the whole other box over, when i split open the box intheir you could tell there has been a bunch of water in their before, it was a shame because it had a riva cdi in their with adjustable limiter, that had to cost a pretty penny. andways, she fired right up and i've never ridden a ski on this magnitude before, heres a pic, check it out.
