@andrewmitchel, just wanted to mention I tested the charging voltages on 3 ski a few months ago after installing a MSD enhancer for a friend. I wanted to make sure it was charging and wired correctly to verify my work before I sealed up the ebox.
I did not see the charging voltage I was expecting to see so I thought I had an issue. His ski 01 RN, battery voltage engine off 12.02 volts, charging voltage with engine running on trailer without cooling water hooked up so it was a fairly quick test done a few different times, at any rev amount 12.21 volts. I Was expecting closer to 13 volts so I initially thought I had an issue. The Ebox was still open so I verified my grounds, B+ and charge coil and regulator wiring, no issues their.
So I tested the known good skis we have, same 2 tests, no cooling hooked up etc, any rev amount
With 91 kawi 650SX I got nearly the same results .26 volts above battery voltage
2013 Vision, Yamaha 701 electrics, .24 volts above battery voltage
So the known good ski test told me what I was seeing was normal for these charging quick tests I was doing and saved me from chasing my tail trying to fix a charging system problem that didn't exist.
I just wanted you to know so your not mislead too
