I mainly ride flatwater freestyle and im trying to get more air for tricks. My most prominent mods are 35cc ada, msd, type 4 dry pipe, d-cut plate, worx 201. I was wondering if it was worth the money and time to throw a tbm super pump cone and 85mm bored nozzle on it for more air? will the extra flow require me to have to re-tune?

don't bore your nozzle yet but yes! a tbm and a 75mm hub prop produces huge gains. i have run the skat 12/17 and 14/19 with my tbm.

The narrower the outlet for water (up to a point) the higher the velocity that can be acheived (faster speed) the wider the outlet (up to a point) the higher water volume that can be moved (more thrust). Obviously this factor is heavily dependant on the rest of the pump and to some extent the engine. If the pump can not feed enough water to the bigger nozzle then you will lose speed and thrust.

Now the TBM does reduce the amount of water in the pump but on a normal pump the water closer to the center is travelling much slower than the water near the outer edge and subsequently slows the velocity greatly. Adding the TBM will get much higher water velocities and so increase the pressure at the exit nozzle thus increasing thrust without really any loss of top speed. Boring the nozzle after that may end up reducing that exit pressure and losing some of the gain you added with the TBM but it may not, it depends on your pump.

So I would do like Scotty suggested, add the TBM, ride it for a while. You could try a bored nozzle later but I would keep a stock one just in case you find you lose thrust.

Edit - I have ridden scotts2t's ski and it feels like a rocket ship trying to blast off when you punch that throttle. I am sure the lightening and total loss have some part in that too but that pump really works. A word of caution though, as scotts2t suggested you need a big hub prop to go with the TBM and you will want a steeper pitch then a normal freestyle prop to keep the water velocity up.

Make sure to check your current rpm, if the pump load is well matched to the engine. It is easy to lose performance by blindly going into pump mods. Adding a TBM and a Hooker 10-16 hurt one of the best running boats in our group. The stock pump with a concord pulled harder.

the way my ski is now is that it isn't really super hard hitting on the bottom end but has good mid to high.. and im not sure what prop it has in it now but i was told from the guy i bought it from it was a skat.. He races so i would assume it has a high pitch..
