Super Jet Super jet 650 problem

i have a 1990 sj 650 it ran good last week now it runs fine out of water and hose in it but once i put it in the water idols fine once u give it throttle it dies down and bogs i thought it was a exhaust leak so i checked all the hoeses and tightined all hose clamps now im leaning toward it might be the stator anybody else had simlar problems?????

Why would it be stator ? Try carb maybe or something

I just herd that's a common prob and maybe it was starting to go out so ur saying just clean the jets??

clogged high speed jet? carb filter?

are plugs clean?

I'm gonna take the carb apart today but the plugs were fine

Just check the carb before u look at stator if u have taken flywheel off before its easy but if u havent its kinda a pain

i took the carb of this after noon everything seemed in order and the jets were clean. if u have any more ideals it would be greatly apreciated

same problem with my 650 I've played with jets air filter still runs like

Ya idk wat else to do I got a protec head and my buddy thinks it maybe a heating problem so check ur sensor I'm checking mine tomrow and also checking my compression I let u no what happens

What kind of big bore is it???

Compression was 150 in one cylinder and 110 in the other so that's not the problem now I'm gonna change the plugs tomrow

Why isn't 150 110 a problem? The difference should be no greater than 10 % between cylinders

Eh 10% is pushing it. Most good running motors are within 5. I would take the head off and see what's up with that. Bad rings or piston, blown gaskets is probably where I would start

Its 130 not 110 but I put new plugs in and it seems to run a lil better so I need to put it in the water and try it out

Ok thnx ...is there any other way to put a load on the prop with out drivin to the lake and paying to get in ??

maybe a carb rebuild and adjustment.

I would find out what caused the cylinders to be 130/150 or after you rebuild the motor the problem may reoccur. Sometimes rings just wear out, But more often than not there are other problems that cause motors to go down, Bad jetting, overheating, air leaks, Bearings going in the bottom etc.

Yea tell the u just need to use the ramp and keep it strapped to the trailer and start it on there and do wat u need to do
