Suggestion. PM max count increase for supporting members?

I know we get an increase already. But any chance the paying members can get a bigger PM box increase? Like say 2500 or 5000? That way we can keep a yr or 2 worth of PMs and reference them when needed. Reason I am asking is that I sent someone Mcmaster part numbers, but have since deleted the PM when cleaning out my over full inbox. Now I must suffer through mcmaster web catalogue searching and hope I order right tubing...lol. Plus it would help if you list alot of stuff for sale.

If it will make the database too big, or cost the site more money then please disregard this request.

Thanks.

Part of my hesitation to do it is that database backups are in the 750-800Mb range currently and increasing pm storage would increase that of course. Currently the database tables that hold pm info are 160Mb (just looked).

You can export pm's to store them on your hard drive

Yes but this is the digital age. We want ALL information, on demand, and accessed from anywhere! And did I mention I am lazy and will just end up deleting them...LOL.

Just a suggestion if the current database levels could support an uptick in storage usage without any negative impact to the site. If not, not a big deal. Appreciate everything you guys do for us keeping the site running good.

But if you're too lazy to delete them or store them elsewhere, a higher storage limit will only delay the problem and make the cleanup task that much daunting.

Partly correct, it will take longer to clean just based on the inbox count being higher. That is true. Delaying the problem....well thats also true, but that is what I was looking for when I made the suggestion. lol. The likely hood of deleting something recent that you might care about is much lower if you wait longer between deleting sessions. I'd bet most ppl who type a long PM and clicked send.... only to see that there stored messages were to exceeded probably does the samething I do. I just go to the oldest PM's and start deleting like crazy. My theory is I just want enough to cover me for 2yrs worth of PMs. I have never even ridden the same jetski for that long so that seems ideal. The oldest PM in my inbox is from late april 2011, after I had already built my ski...lol.

Again just a suggestion only if the spare capacity was there. Otherwise I completely understand.

If the main concern is deleting important pms, then you can create a new folder for those and move important ones into it, then keep your inbox fairly clean.

Back in your Inbox, check the box(es) by the pm(s) you want to move, then at the bottom of the list, hit the Selected Messages button, select Move to Folder then hit Proceed
On the move page, select the folder then click Move

To download them to your computer, check the box(es) then hit Selected Messages, choose how you want to download them, then hit Proceed
