Stupid!

We all do something stupid now & then.
I'll share my stupidity with you.

I had to remove my e-box. The bracket studs had become "one" with the aluminum ears of the box.
Had to remove the dash to remove the e-box.(alot of crap on my dash). Including the primer.
I laid the fuel lines aside, above the level of fuel. O.K.
After fighting the issue at hand until dark, I closed it all up.
Got home from work today and smelled fuel as soon as I got out of my truck.
I took the hood off and found the hull had at least 2-3 inches of fuel in the bottom. The heat of the day had built psi.
Glad I did'nt hit any switches!
Pumped it into the storm drain (kidding) a 5-gal bucket with a west marine plastic hand pump, filled it with water and repeated 3x.
By now I figured it was safe to continue using the bilge pump. A few more times and I was good.

It could have been REALLY bad.
Hope this helps sombody else avoid this. All I would have had to do is pull the air check on the tank, or reconnect the primer and lay it on the engine.....Take your time. Don't be stupid!

Always plug lose gas lines and crack the gas cap to prevent pressure build up when working with fuel system. :firedevil:

If you have a pressure washer, use it on the stainless studs for the e-box and they come right off.

A friend did the same thing about 3 weeks go. Took his primer off to re-turf. Well in the meantime we put in footholds as well. So 3 days later when we were turfing we smelled gas, took the hood off to find about 3 gals in the bottom of the hull.
