stumped with an electrical problem

here are the symptoms:
90 sj

Motor doesnt crank when start button is pressed, when relay is crossed over with a screw driver or starter is connected directly to battery it cranks fine. I have two relays, neither make a difference, each were tested on a battery for continuity ( red to pos, black to neg and continuity bt the posts was good)
The start/stop switch has excellent continuity on each circuit, as well as both circuits going into the electrical box.
My flywheel key sheared when my splines went a couple weeks ago, my stator now has 0 resistance on two of the coils.
The fuse in the box is good....
Am i overlooking something? i dont think it is necessary for the stator to be good for the motor to turn over... i need some guidance asap.

thanks in advance

i don't know much about the electrical system either, but i do know the stator does have to be connected in order for the ski to fire. if it is unplugged the start and stop switch does nothing... so most likely something is wrong with your stator.

i know the stator is bad, the pulsar coil and the charge coil both register 0 ohms so they are fried... dont know how unless it happened when the positive jumper cable hit my ground on my battery

things to consider :the relay is grounded to the electrical box...the stator wires has one ground wire between the motor and the electrical box...rule out a bad ground to the e-box...

0 ohms is not always an indication of a bad stator.

U have to have your meter set at the lowest setting. It should be measured in miliohms.

My stator should read 800 miliohms, or .8 ohms...

well i was basing it on the fact that i also tested an identical stator i had laying around that read much higher ohms, i tried on every setting on my multi meter and got no reading at all

U must mean that the circuit was reading open... That's a little different then 0 ohms.

If it's 0 ohms, then that means the coil's shorted. U checked both sides of the stator?

There should be 4 wires coming out. 2 go to each coil on the stator.

i checked with an analog multimeter. I dialed the settings in then tested. i do believe it is shorted, by 0 i should have said no reading at all bc the needle did not move. I dont see any obvious breaks in any of the wires but idk what caused it. Could this prevent my ski from turning over?

Do some voltage checks.

with start button not pressed:
should have 12v from battery cable on solenoid to ground on battery
should have 0v from starter cable on solenoid to ground on battery

with start button pressed:
should have 12v from both solenoid posts to ground on battery

Is the solenoid clicking ?

... tested voltage i have 12v and 0 when not pressed, as well as when pressed... 12v through each line from the start switch... Im guessing that both of these solenoids are bad, but im confused because they have continuity between the posts when tested on a battery. any other suggestions
