yeah run the same size tap though first....if you think its just gummed up or something

as for brass drill bits, if you take a standard bit (not the fancy "fast drill" bits that have a step on the tip)...just file the sharpened sections on the tip to dull them a bit....should make drilling more predictable, just go slow and you should be good.....

So I ran the same size tap (M10 x 1.25) through first and a die over the bolt to clean the threads. After working it all the way through it seemed to work perfectly. I guess it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. So to be on the safe side I went through and cleaned out all the inserts and bolts to ensure I don't have this problem again.

It ws reassuring to know that if this didn't work I had many other options, because of everyone's feedback on this thread. Thanks to all!!!
