Is sandblasting the best way to get the paint off a motor? I am not sure if I am going to powder coat or paint it yet.
Tear it all down and blast it.
Then send it to me and I'll powdercoat it.
Powerdercoating is the bomb. I dont even bother painting anything anymore.
If the part wasn't prepped and coated properly, salt water will get under the coat, cause corrosion, and unseat the powdercoating, making it pop/flake off.
Basically the same thing that will happen to paint.
I would say get it beadblasted, and if you maintain it right...rinse, wd-40 after every ride etc....I would just leave it raw, I did that with my old ski and never had an issue
just curious. whats wrong with powder coat in salt water? i know a few people that run it w/ no probs.

I agree. Unless your looking for color I love the raw bead blasted look.
