So do you really think the 144 pump is just setup to have more grunt by pushing higher volume than the higher pressure kawi pump?

I need somebody who has good experience with a similar fx1 to ride my boat. I may just have my standards set to high...
I think that may be the case.
I just last fall sold an FX-1 with the 650 pump mod and a Solas Concord 13/17. 701, 175psi compression, stock electrics.
I'm 6'1", 185lbs, and the thing still had mushy bottom end. I constantly would get the boat on it's tail, hold the throtlle wide open, and try with all my might to get myself back up on plane (every freaking time).
The thing just wouldn't bite.
Mushy, for lack of a beter word, bottom end.

That's why I broke down and bought a Blowsion/Pro Tec 144mm conversion pump with a Skat cutback in it.
I still have yet to try it out. It better be better.

Well thats no help. I mean really, mine has absolutely NO problems getting up on a plane due to the pump, though I will say its damn hard to keep the nose down and the ass IN the water. If I'm doing a tailstand and snap the throttle it will absolutely shoot out of my hands.

Its really hard to explain. Before I was convinced it was the motor, but now the motor is running so amazing I cant tell if its the motor or the pump anymore. I almost cant believe its the motor... (but I'm gonna keep upgrading just in case it is... lol)

X2 nozzle is pretty damn big (83-84 mm?) for a 9/17. It will let it rev real easy. That's the setup I'm running on my Orange FX and it pulls pretty good. I tried a 750 exit nozzle (80mm) and it def loaded it up better though. I had to fab some standoffs and weld them onto the sides of the 750 nozzle to adapt the X2 trim nozzle though....oh well, welding salty old aluminum is fun!! :trink26:

Think I'd get more punch by restricting the nozzle? I'm thinking swapping to the long TBM cone wil simulate this a bit...

On the otherhand I believe a kawi zxi 900 has an all metal trim setup...?

900 zxi is a 140mm pump, but the nozzle won't bolt up. The zxi uses a thicker casting and diff bolt spacing. I have one and tried it.

hrmm.... Isnt there another trim one that will fit though? Maybe i have the letters mixed up...

If nothing else thats a source for an aluminum trim and steering ring...?

If you can score one used, a skat SXR drop nozzle reversed. Or wamiltons or virgin sxr trim system. They can be bored anywhere from 80mm-86mm. You would have to tweak your turnplate and extend the steering cable, as the ratios will change. I did some welding to the X2 steer arm, and this is how the cable was extended to reach.

Prototype extender for testing.

My final product. M6 Grade 2 Titanium extender, with full pivot range for 30deg trim.

Actually, I think any of the 750 sitdown nozzles will work if you don't care about the position of the bilge tube. I won't run my boat without the stock bilge hooked up, so that's why I had to fabricate. I know alot of peeps don't use stock bilge....so maybe it doesn't matter??

I didnt even provide myself for a thru hull tube for stock bilge when I made my ski... sooooo yea....

I'm going to try swapping to the long TBM cone first. See what that does. Then I'll be blueprinting, and see how that helps. I know on 550s it really helped let the bottom end spin up quick.
