Stock Superjet turf sucks, removing rail caps???

I have been on my new ski for a few days now and the stock turf is a joke. No underpadding and slick as it gets, so after hurting myself a few times I am ready to rip up the stock and laydown some new. I think I am going to do only the bottom for now with some 25mm underpadding and cut diamond turf. In the future I plan on adding some footholds and would like to know for future reference how the stock rail caps come off, apply pulling force? I assume they are glued on in some way. What would be the easiest way to remove the stock turf, sharpened putty knife and a hammer?

The rail caps are glued on - mine just feel off. You could probably slice them into pieces and pull off.

The turf you can heat up then scrape at - dont use a hammer just a paint scrapper. to get the glue off i mix gas and acetone and spray it on and it comes right off (wear gloves and dont smoke lol )

Easy enough, I dont want to rip the caps off right away as it is a brand new ski. I already feel bad for pulling the turf but it has got to go, I am so uneasy on the stock stuff. Is it a good idea to wrap the thick underpad around the rear to guard the shins? Seems like it would be at risk of peeling if done that way.

Thanks for the comments,

If your not installing footholds you might want to think about either keeping the bottom stock turf installed and install Hydtoturf on top, or get some foam and turf on top of that.

I guess there wouldn't be anything wrong with turfing over the existing stuff. I have already purchased the 25mm underpadding and some black cut diamond turf. I would really like foot holds but I dont have time for that right now, I am trying to get my project car going and have only a month to do so. I think I will use acetone as the gas is to oily and may cause poor adhesion, plus I can score some acetone from the meth lab next door.

yeah taper it with a sander. Also if you use gas and acetone, you can just wipe the residue off with straight acetone afterwards.
