stock intake,whats the channel for

with the stock intake on a 62t superjet whats the point of the channel in the intake,on the flip side what kinda result does epoxying it off and adding dual pulse lines and pumps give you?
 
searched it already,it improves signal to carbs to fill it in,but helps smoothness and idle to leave it.anyone ever try adding another pulse and fuel pump and leaving it open to further balance flow
