Does your left hand move?? If it doenst move around as much as your right then swap your throttle over to the left side. You would look like an idiot, but hey your right bird flipper wont be hurtin any more.. you could actually rig up dual throttle cables and run one throttle lever per side and then you could swap on and off so neither hand hurts to bad..

Ok I am braking a SJ rule but I know have a thumb throttle. I just flipped the sucker over drilled a hole and retapped it to the same size as the screw. its solid and the cable isn't binding or anything.

a finger throttle just does not seem at all logical to me. the only time I could see it being a good idea is when you are doing monkey jumps and such. my thumb does not really do much. my fingers are doing 90% of the hanging on.

you will be surprised how much your thumb does. i think its gonna be really awkward. the first time i rode my 550 with a thumb throttle i hated it. before the next time i went out i bought a trigger.

i woulda just trimmed the the finger part a little or moved it over so it wasn't so far into the grip.

but hey you might be one of those guys that like em.

didnt see if anyone mentioned this, but yea I had the same problem. Solution? A couple strips of neoprene, rubber, or anything solid and reasonable, and a ziptie. Place it so it keeps your middle finger out from underneath the throttle, that piece there will prevent it from finding its way underneath there.

I had that problem at first untill I got some Progrip "fingers" they keep your hand from moving in toward the throtle. I Don't have a good picture and they are hard to find but you might be able to find them at a dirt bike shop. I can't find anyplace to order them anymore.

It does the same thing as a flange but I didn't like the flange so went with these Plus the local yamaha shop gives me small things that I want since I order so many parts from them.

After a while you get used to riding that way and you won't need the grips anymore. Here is a picture

I am going to ride it like this a few times. your thumb is on the back of the grip while your fingers are on the front taking all the force. I think my hands must just work differently than most you.

definitely give it a shot and let us know how it goes. i never complained about my 550's stock thumb throttle. My SJ throttle bothers me all the time though.

thats like exactly what a little piece of something under the throttle does, it lets you know where your finger shouldnt be.
