I don't do a lot of fluff talking except for a select few guys that have come through, for me, time and time again. This list would include:
1. Jetmaniac
2. Paul Lehr
3. Berky/Tem (Superfreak skis)
4. Art Gomez
No particular order of preference there, but each guy has proven his word, knowledge and reliability to me on various occasions. Now add Steve Ortega to the list for providing me with a fine product (hull) and great follow-up customer support. I can't vouch for anyone else's interaction other than my own. Steve has been available to answer calls and texts and has gone far enough to 'cold-call' ME, on occasion, about how the product is performing, holding up to abuse and provided tuning tips.
I bought a Chan early this summer. It has held up well with regular use and plenty of flops and failed tricks. I recently needed a new ride plate due to me damaging the original and continuing to ride on it while damaged. It finally disintegrated from under my hull to nothing but a few pieces. I put a WTB thread up to try and buy one or borrow someone's and make a spare. Steve contacts me that day. Asks what's up. Offers to make me a fresh one that day and ship it out the next AND DO IT ALL FOR FREE???!!! I asked repeatedly to send some money for the part, or at a minimum, the shipping. Steve wouldn't take any payment. I posted on the WTB on Sunday evening. The part was made, shipped and arrived at my door on Friday (California to Geogia shipping). As of this point, I have no reservations for Steve or his products and would recommend them to even my closest buds. Every business is only as good as their last transaction. So for Steve and Trendsetterz, they are fantastic.

Got some more positives to add to the story...

Steve replaced the entire hull for free (shipping included.). Long story short, I had a gel coat crack around the handle pole bracket area. It wasn't a structural crack, just a cosmetic crack. I notified Steve. He said: "Just watch it. Ride it hard as hell, try to break it...and Ill replace it." I took him at his word and rode the hell out of the hull all summer. Flipped, flopped and smacked it all around. It had tons of test rides by friends and others who were interested in a Chan. I stayed in contact with Steve since the riding season generally ends for me around late October/early November. He called or emailed a few times through the summer and fall and kept me updated. It was no rush on my end since he was letting me keep the original till the new one shows up. I was concerned he would think I was taking advantage of him and keeping both hulls, so I tried to offer to ship the old one back. He said don't sweat it, so I didn't. The new one showed up yesterday. It looks great. It's virtually a carbon-copy of the original, but with some mild updates and carbon bottom deck (versus glass on the old one) and that's what I wanted. He offered to change up the color/turd combo if I wanted something different. I cant speak for everyone elses experiences, but for me its been a good experience dealing with Trendsetterz and Steve.

Thanks again Steve.

Helped ol Pablo here pull this thing out of the crate. Steve's paintwork never ceases to amaze me. They look great in pictures, but we all know how pictures are. Even a gen2 bob looks good in pictures. I admire the effort Steve puts into aesthetics, even on a REPLACEMENT hull done in a solid color for free.

Been thinking about adding a wide, black stripe down the middle of ski front to back with a strip of black turf down the tray as well and add a black side strip down each side like zzylestra's red baby. I really don't want I do much, especially tearing up perfectly good turf...we'll see. I'd rather just build it and ride it, but its never gonna be easier than when its a naked hull.

Don't forget the poll will be like a big strip down the center and add color contrast, so maybe just some graphics like Byeai said.

I think you should add gray down the sides and get a black Chan sticker on the side of the tray. :) .

In all seriousness, props to Steve for delivering as promised and standing behind his product. If we had the cash the old green one would have stayed together and been Brande's.

Steve has also been more than helpful answering several questions as i get Greg's old ski ready for some salt water running. Ill gladly administer one Official sportfish ATTA BOY ! To the trendsetter crew.
