650/X-2 Steering plate HELP!!!! Nut wont stay tight.

I replaced my stock steering plate with an A/M steering plate. The problem is that the nut holding the plate on wont stay tight. If you tighten it so it doesn't turn, then the bars are to tight to turn. If you loosen the nut then it backs off as you turn. I greased up the bushing so it might possibly allow it to turn better. What to do???

Try leaving it loose and using lots of loctite. Makes sure there's no grease or anything on the threads because obv it wont work.

Post a picture. That might make it easier to suggest if putting a washer or something somewhere might help.

I gave up on the nylock nuts and switched all mine over to stainless locking collars. They work much much better but will still slip if there is any grease left on the threads.

I still have 5 or 6 in stock if you want one.

You could try using a "c" clip and putting the teeth in between the threads on the stud. If the threads are big enough, the clip thin and tight enough it might hold.
