Steering adjustment frustration

Im hoping someone can give me a little insight.

06 Sxr, rrp pole

I can not adjust my steering enough to get my bars and steering nozzle straight.

Both adjusters, under the chin pad and next to the nozzle are screwed all the way in and will not screw on any further. With out being able to screw them in further my bars are off approx. 5 degrees in relation to my nozzle.

The only thing I can think to do. Is to cut the threaded part of the cable so the adjusters will screw further in. Has any one else had to do this?

am I missing something really stupid? I feel pretty retarded as I have messed with this on and off through out the winter. Now spring is here and I can not ride the ski the way it is.

I also have a ton a slack in my throttle cable, have my adjustments set as far as they can go but still need more to get it some what tight. I can pull my finger throttle in half way and still not rev the motor. The only adjusmtments I see are at the finger throttle and at the carb.

Im starting to mess with adjusting the pole length. But I cant see that I should need to.

You need to in fact cut the steering cable down a little bit and re-thread the cable a bit further down. What I recommend doing is getting a die (the "nut" that will create new threads) and putting it on the steering cable, after you remove the adjuster. Cut the cable AFTER installing the die, and cut above the die. This way you don't have to fight the messy threads at the end of the cable that are a result of the cut. thread you die down and use some oil to help lube and cut the new threads, go slowly. when you are done, remove the die and make sure you clean up the end of the threads since it will probably be sharp from the cut.

For your throttle cable you will have to either tighten or loose the cable at the finger throttle or carb. Try adjusting at the finger throttle since you took it out of there to install your new pole. If you want, remove your air filter so u can see your carb butterfly. Pull the throttle, see how far it opens. Continue adjusting until your throttle plates are fully opened. This way you wont have to constantly turn your ski on and off.

Hope that helps and is clear.
