300/440/550 stator question

I was getting no spark so I pulled flywheel and checked stator after checking everything else and found a wire that was not connected on charging coil.Hope this isnt a really dumb question, but could that be the reason the ski would not start.

I soldered the wire to the post it goes too,and still no start.I was brave or dumb enough to stick my finger in the spark plug boot, and it shocked me but not much like I would think it would.would a bad stator give off a little spark but not enough to start the ski.

I took the PP motor out of my running 1990 550 and replaced it with a reed motor from a non running very clean 1991 550.The flywheel and stator look brand new.The wire that was connected is the copper wire that wraps aroound and around the charging coil and its supposed to be soldered to the washer under mounting scew.It looked like it had never been soldered there at all.I know its suppoed to be soldered there from looking at another stator on line. The motor has good compression and is getting fuel just weak spark. It wont fire at all.I guess since its three weeks before the one place in town can even look at it I should just find a stator on ebay and give that a try.Unless you have advice that is
