Hey guys I just got done reading a pretty good thread on testing the stator and all. I'm having trouble with my ski not charging. Runs great, no issues there. I have a 2014 SJ 62t.. MSD Enhancer, as far as electrics goes. Well I had a lightened flywheel fall apart at the hub. Magnets got sucked into the stator until it came to a stop, maybe 10-20 spins before it rested on the stator. Just guessing, flywheel broke at low rpm while riding. Put a new flywheel on and now having issues. (week later or less)
First test I did was multi meter on the battery with it running.. I got 12.2v and it would gradually increase 12.3-12.4-12.5.. ect.. Do these skis put out 13-14v like I read they should, because I tested another ski that had no charging issues that he knows of and it didn't show a huge voltage increase when it was running. Just a gradual increase in the starting voltage.
I skipped to pulling the flywheel and stator to inspect for damage a little better than I had. Given the recent events. Everything looks fine, there was some metal pieces in the bottom of the case, but stator looked to be untouched, but maybe it had been machined down just a little?
I measured the Lighting coil right at it, I got 1.40-1.5oms resistance between the two green wires..
I swapped out to a used stator and have the same problem. Like mine it too ohms out fine and is putting out the 20+ volts AC from the green wires. I tried another used voltage regulator with no luck.
