FX-1 stator breakdown?

hi guys, hoping for a little help here.....

took the ski out last week and it ran great for a couple of hours....then i left i on the bank for a while and when i got back on it, it was just powerless, like it had no guts at all. i quit for the day and decided to inspect....

found nothing, coil OK, stator tested out ok, flywheel tight, stator plate tight etc etc so i put it all back together and left it untill today.

got it to the lake today and got it on the water.... it ran perfectly again! but after a couple of hours it did exactly the same, once it had been sat on the bank for a while it ran like crap.

it has plenty of fuel in the tank, one way valve ok and it was blasting plenty of water out the pisser, compression is ok. its a brand new JSS coil with about 2-3 hours on it.

i am kinda lost? i thought maybe the stator could be getting hot and breaking down? any other ideas people?

p.s. std 61x ignition

To eliminate a heat soaking/failing stator, use a digital multimeter and do Ohm resistance test on all the coils on the stato when its cool. Then heat it up(stator) real good with a heat gun/hair blower, then test again, and see if it fails.

thanks, that was my thought, like a dope, i forgot to test it when it started playing up...it checks out perfect when its cold.

i also opened the e-box too and found moisture in there, so that can't be good. i'm going to order a new seal and make sure no water can get in.

think my best bet is to ride it and as soon as it starts playing up i will test it out on the bank....

cheers
