Starting my winter project need some advice

Ok. So i am tearing apart my 98 superjet this winter. I have started to defoam already and need some advice on what i should do while its all apart.

1. Should i install a scupper? Currently i have a 1100 gph bilge. I ride only flat water and am starting to try more freestyle stuff all the time. Right now i do a lot of subs cause i just learnt how.

2. Should i install new footholds or use the old ones i took out? I like the old ones but one has hole worn in the toe of it. Repair or just get new ones?

3. Shorten the pole? Should i be shortening the pole? I would like to eventually learn to do a barrel roll, does a shortened pole make a big difference? Im 6'1" and dont know how much to take off without going too short that its uncomfortable to ride.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

1. I wouldn't install a scupper. It dumps water pretty fast, but the margin of error for installation is very slim. If you screw it up (and most do), you'll have waterlogged foam in no time. Of course, you may already have that. :) A lot of scuppers/one way valves will sink your ski in record time if it's sitting upside down for whatever reason. Just personal opinion, but I would not install a scupper again and just be happy with the stock siphon bilge and two good bilge pumps.

2. I'd repair the holds you have. Cheaper, and you already like them.

3. Shortening the pole is easy to do. Go for it.

IF you choose to do this; have a look at the Versiplug Max. I use one, neat little gadget!

Repair!!!

Shorten for sure. I cut 5" off mine, I am using stock steering. I am 6" so... You could start out with -2-3" and add short turn plate if you want more.
4. Install tube for trim cable. IF you want it in the future.
5. Seal tray area and all fittings/nuts/etc.
6. Remove excess green glue
7. Reinforce sides in tray area
8. Install welded accorn nut for foot strap
9. Read ALL refoam storys on here. I'll use the "foam-by-the-sheet" method on my ongoing refoam. You do some research and choose your metod.

Ive considered a scupper as well but I think 2 pumps will be best for me or maybe one 1100 pump. Seems like there was a scupper trend on here for a while, im kinda proud I didnt give into the peer pressure.
