Ok, so I am cheap and used an old starter, which was remanufactured, worked well LAST season .

Few days ago wanted to fire the ski up and guess what... sh..happens.. Took motor out, starter opened, lots of moisture inside. Cleaned, sealed with silicone, was working fine for like 30 minutes...just wonderful.

What can you recommend that will not kill me financially, but still be a solid option that does not take water in... ebay starter, something else?? Help a brother out

Good used OEM starters are the best bet and usually around $100, (shipping would be a bit more for you). I would see if Jetmaniac has any available.

Yeah, will talk to Chris, but what is the warranty that an used oem starter will not do the same?

None really but Chris tests all his parts before he sends them out so you should be good there. Personally, I have more faith in a used OEM than any new aftermarket unit and am willing to take the risk.

I bought a new Aquatorque for my first Superjet and it worked well. When I moved down to the US and started building skis from bare hulls, I started getting all my used parts from Chris, including my starters, and I have not had one fail yet. One is going on 4 years and the other just over 2.

I have heard that silicone works good to reseal them after having them open but I find a coat of heavy paint helps to keep them sealed as well. Ideally, if you don't absolutely have to break that OEM seal, don't.
