Hey guys. I need help getting back on the water ASAP.
Ski info: 1997 yamaha Superjet. 701 engine with milled head. Compression is 185 and 190. Stock carbs. Factory b pipe.
Problem: ever since I've owned it, I've probably only gotten one full day of riding without having problems.
It has had issues with random bogging ever since I bought it. It would bog for a second and then catch back up RANDOMLY. Carbs have been tuned multiple times. Didn't change. I swapped the CDI over the winter and when I took it out for a ride the other day it seemed to fix it.
BIGGEST PROBLEM: while I was riding, it rode fine the whole time until while riding it randomly bogged once, caught power for a second and then totally died. Tried starting it and it acted like it didn't have enough juice to turn the motor. When I got home, I saw that both terminals on the battery were horribly corroded (they were spotless a few hours before bc I put the battery in right before I went on the ride.)
HX: my ski has burned up 2 starters last summer and melted the negative battery post on 2 NEW batteries last summer. I replaced the pos and negative battery cables with brand new cables thinking that was the problem.
Im sure there is something electrical going on here but I don't wanna just keep guessing.
