stand up vs sit down

I've just started riding stand-up myself.

I didn't notice anything like stress of pressure in my back. Not that it wasn't there, just that it didn't make itself noticed.

I did notice that my legs were nowhere near strong enough. I'd often come in after a few minutes of riding and crawl to my seat for a few minutes rest before going back out again. I'd feel it in my legs for days after.

Never a problem with my back. Maybe that will start when I start doing tricks and wild maneuvers.

If you have your heart set on wave jumping then buy a standup. Sit downs are actually harder on your back for wave jumping. They have more surface area therefore hit harder on the landing.....Not to mention the fact that a hard butt impact to the seat will finish your back off.

I have back problems and really should call it quits but can't seem to do it.
I would caution you that this sport will be hard on your back if you want to be aggressive. If you do flat water riding and just enjoy going out on the lake and playing around, you will be fine.
