i'm 380 pounds 5ft 1 and have always considered myself a great rider. i ride seadoos. but after hearing everyone talk about how great standups are i had to try one. and wow you guys were right! i just bought myself a seadoo 3d and it rocks! i know i will need a lot of practice to be able to ride it more then 100ft or so without falling off. but i would like to install footholds and start practicing the barrel roll. so i was wondering if anyone had some advice for me on where to start.

just make sure when you install the footholds you remove all of the old foam because it weighs a ton and then ride without drainplugs. riding without drainplugs will also save on weight thereby increasing your chance of throwing a backflip

good luck:biggrin:

I think everyone missed the point of the thread he really needs advice on "the barrelroll"

I would suggest standing on the ski while heading down the road. On the trailer or being drug behind a truck either way... After about 75 MPH is reached have the driver of the truck make a sharp turn onto another road. All you will have to do is concern yourself with the lateral force when the tow vehicle makes that sharp turn and you will have to do is lean to the outisde and it should ROLL.

BTW if it is on the trailer don't use straps that will slow the rotation.

Disclaimer: Don't really try this it will hurt

put it into a large barrel at the top of a hill.
give the barrel a push.
voila- barrel roll!

either that, or put the barrel of a shotgun against the side and pull the trigger as many times as it take to roll the beast

There was a 3D carving it up big time at Pismo. He'd ride past in vert mode then again in moto mode. Were were all envious and ashamed of our silly single-mode skis.

hey guys thanks for all the advice and kind words. i decided to go with the waterdawg footholds. well i got it out into the water today and i was sweating like a pig. not cause it was hot it was only 48 degrees water temps probably around 30, but because i am such a fat ass. i waited for what i thought was the perfect wave. i gunned the throtle "Balls to the wall!" i screamed as i headed for the wave. i hit it perfectly turned the ski right then cranked it hard left. it was total bliss i felt the air beneath me as the power of the 3d catapulted me towards the heavens. only i didn't make the full rotation and my joy quickly turned to anguish as the 3d came crashing down on me. it took me back to the night that my girlfriend rolled over on me in my sleep. needless to say i wont be attempting it again anytime soon. for now i will stick with cart mode.
