stand up problem!!

my 1991 kawasaki 550 runs excellent once started but once on the water and i turn it off it wont start forever i just crank the starter for awhile, shouldnt it just fire right back up?

another problem with 1990 kawasaki 550

yeah i know it sounds like this ski its :):):):) but its really not i just found some problem it has a low battery but when driving it it will start right up if you lift the ass end up but as soon as you drop it back in it gets weak to where it would stall if you dont give it gas. im totally confused

if you have 60 psi
it will do that, no load, it spins free, no problem
put a load on it, it dies
back pressure from exhaust under water enough to kill it

that would be easy but someone told me i would need to adjust the carburetor with a load on it because when i slam the throttle it wants to bog just a can accelerate into nice and it will get up. or maybe clean the carb really good. but another thing is i dont exactly know how to check the compression because some people agrue on how to check it with give it full throttle or half but i gave it none and cranked it over.

Are you sure you performed the compression test correctly? With the throttle wide open? Fully Charged battery? If you really only have 60psi then you need a rebuild like mentioned above.

On the other hand, if it's an even 60psi, I'd redo the test with a known good gauge and fully charged battery.

thanks alot man thats what i didnt know i have abattery tester that mechanics use and all you do is enter the cca and it testes it where it came out no good but it has 12.64v's on it. and no i did not give it full throttle thats where i was confused so all i did was crank it over until it was at its highest psi whick was 60 in both but today ill compression check it with full throttle and keep you posted but giving it no throttle will effect it that much?
what psi am i aiming for?

60 is way too low. Take off the head (few nuts) and look for scratches on cylinder..if they are not present, you might get away with a set of new rings (cheap fix). However changing the top end would be the best solution. One more thing: my used do barely start in water due to my starter - open it up and clean everything!
