ok, I have always wanted a stand up jetski. In looking at the two available, kawi and yami. I know the yami is about 60lbs lighter, to me would make a huge difference, but I"d like to get some opinions from people who have ridden them before? Also I own 3 seadoos right now, but I have a double trailer, It carries my 94 xp and 2006 rxp. I'd like to some how get a stand up on it aswell.. does anyone know if this is possible? or if there are custom trailers available?

Thanks in advance

Hi Welcome!

Few years ago my husband and I rode big couches. I sold my couch in o4' and bought a Kawasaki SX-R 800. Six months later my Husband bought a Superjet. He never touched a Stand-up until he brought mine home from the dealership. Now we own four Superjets and never looked back.

SX-R wonderful they are very forgiving to the beginer and excellent for racing.

Superjets are cheaper to modify, lighter, and more playful. That's the quick and dirty.
Both good boats if I'd race I would still have a SX-R

I had an sxr and loved it but too heavy for playing with on lakes unless you are pro and a superjett is about the best unless you have the cash or Luck for aftermarket. BTW the powerband on an sxr is mid and top so it' not verry user friendly for going slow or tricks

well, I definatly have room up in front, my trailier doesn't have a tool box or anything and I have some weight to spare, since My xp only weighs 400lbs compared to my rxp. Anyone have pics on how to build the bunks and a place to strap it down?

I only been riding sit downs, simply because its all I have ever had. "they were something anyone could ride, but now I can afford my own and If I can fit it on my trailer I'm set!

Sounds like the SJ is the way I want to go.. Anything else I should know? WHat about reliability of the 2? It seems as if the sxr might be a bit faster.. but I'm on lakes so I really like playfulness thats why I refuse to sell my 94 xp its so light and playful.

Be sure to watch the tongue weight when you mount another set of bunks across the front.

The speed won't matter to you. You'll feel like your going 70mph when your only going 45...

Yea the SXR is faster, but try going WOT the first day you get the SJ, I'll be surprised if you are able to hang on at top speed until you get a little better at riding.

i think an sj is great for a beginner. I have not ridden an sxr but there are quite a few sjs among us. Our story is the same as yama cat. I and a group of friends from high school started riding sit downs about six years ago. about two and a half or three years ago we got a 550 and now we have six sjs, i have an fx1 and we have an outsider with a blaster.

I"ll post pics of the trailer, I know theres room. I just need to know how to build the bunks and a way to secure it down. Thats why I was wondering if there are pics.

I"d love to find a new yami SJ 06 still at a dealer. Anyone know of one around?
